I had a 1995 buick lesabre and the A/C compressor went out in the winter time. I waited until spring to replace the compressor. In the mean time, I used a Dayco 72.10 inch belt and bypassed the A/C compressor and it runs fine.
Simply purchase the belt for a non air conditioned version of your vehicle and route the belt the same as the old one excluding the compressor
It has one serpentine belt for the AC compressor and alternator, and a V-belt for the power steering. ~Pengauin
If you want to remove the Ac compressor completly, you can pick up a bypass pully and bracket at Murray's or Pepboys for around 25 bucks. It just bolts implace of the compressor and reuses the stock belt. You might have a worn bearing on the compressor shaft which could cause the grinding noise. Make sure that it's the AC compressor that is grinding, they can be quite costly. Hope this helps.

The power steering is driven by the serpentine belt which must be changed by releasing the tensioner, located below the alternator. The only other belt is for the A/C compressor.
