Just try different sizes until you find the correct size.
The correct size socket and ratchet to remove the hold down. And the correct size socket to remove the battery cable clamp.
Remove the ground cable. Remove the support arms that are in the way.Remove the positive cable. Take a ratchet,a 12" extension, and a 13mm socket and remove the holdown fixture located at the bottom of the battery. Install new battery. Reverse procedure. Done.
Use the appropriate socket on the nut and tighten it. Make sure the cable is in the correct position first.
Using a 5/16" 6 point box wrench or socket remove the negative battery cable first then the positive cable. Using a 13mm socket with a 10" extension remove the battery hold down bolt and remove clamp wedge. Remove the battery, clean up battery tray and cable ends with water and baking soda and wire brush. Install new battery, reinstall battery clamp and bolt. Attach positive battery cable first then negative cable. You will need to reset clock and radio settings.
To change the positive battery cable on a 1988 Jeep Cherokee trace the end of the cable to the starter. Unplug the battery then remove the cable from the starter. Measure the old positive cable with the new and be sure to replace the unit at the right size.

Always disconnect the negative battery cable first even if you are changing the positive cable and reconnect the negative cable last. This is to prevent accidental shorts to ground.
Remove the old battery, disconnect the negative cable first and install the new battery connect the negative cable last.
Replace the battery cable with an OEM style cable. Do not use a clamp on terminal.

open the hood then undo the positive red battery cable then undo the negative cable and you will need a 10mm socket wrench to loosen the safety clamp hold plate that keeps the battery from turning over do this and your done
Remove brackets that hold existing battery in place. Unscrew negative cable, then positive cable. Pull old battery out. Place new battery in. Fasten negative battery cable, then positive one. Place bracket back on and tighten nuts.
