The 1997 Pontiac Transport 3400 rocker arm torque specifications are 18 pounds. The rocker arm should be torqued in six pound intervals.
There's a solinoid in the transmission.Suggest to check that first. Turn on interior lights. Start engine. If the lights go out when the engine stalls, you have a bad ignition switch.
- I just installed a new timing CHAIN on my 1997 Pontiac Transport that has a 3400 engine in it. If you get the kit at autozone that comes with the gears and new gaskets it only cost me $ 45.00.
located about 12 inches right of oil fill cap.attached to front valve cover.
if the vin codes match then they should but i'd look at the wiring diagrams to be sure...

Maybe internal transmission problem 1st and cheapest step would be to change fluid and filter
14 ft pounds plus 30 degrees torque to 14 ft lb then turn 30 degrees more
