For a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport : Both the 4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine and the 4.0 liter SOHC , V6 engine take : With engine oil filter change : ( 5.0 U.S. quarts of 5W-30 )
you need to have the tires rotated and balanced if they are not in the best condition you probably need new tires. If your tires are fairly well and you had that done try an alignment.
You are probably in need of ball joints and alignment. You really need to have the front end checked by a mechanic for safety sake.
Check your tires. They may have a flat spot some where. you may need tires. or tires may need to be balance.
It depends on what wheels your cougar came with. If you have the 15 inch, six spoke fan blade wheels, you need 205/60 tires, if you have the 16 inch, sport package wheels, you need the harder to find, 215/50 tires. 17 inch wheels were not available in '99 to the best of my knowledge. If you have trouble finding the 215/50/16 tires, both the more common 225/50 tires, and the 215/55 tires can be used without much problem.
The 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac owners manual shows : Motorcraft BXT - 65 - 650 ( Ford's " top of the line " battery for your vehicle )
your vin number determines what engine you require . but you can put a v-8 4.6 litre with some modifications

5 size 5!!
Yes, but you will need to install a set of tires that keep the total diameter of wheel/tire as close to stock as possible or your speedometer will be off, and you will upset the handling characteristics of the vehicle.
If your 1999 4 cyl Mitsubishi Eclipse shakes when you reach 70 mph, you may need to replace your tires. Edit: I recently replaced my four tires so I don't think it would be the tires though.
