O2 Sensors require a special socket that has a slot cut in to one side for the wire that runs from it. This socket can usually be purchased or rented from most Auto supply house. They come in I believe in three size.
You need to take a wrench to loosen the oxygen sensor, then you will need to disconnect the cord. Once you have done that you will then pull out the old oxygen sensor.
To replace the oxygen sensor on a Honda Odyssey, first unscrew the sensor. Then use a 22 mm socket or 7/8 inch wrench to replace the oxygen sensor.
With a 7/8in. Oxygen sensor socket or wrench
There are four oxygen sensors on this vehicle, the two located downstream past the catalytic converter are most likely the easiest to access. Regards of the location the best method to change the sensor is with a special tool designed just for this job like the ones available at DenLors. Using a standard 7/8" wrench is possible, however access with a bulky wrench is difficult and since only the open end of the wrench can be used due to the sensor wire being in the way, rounding the wrench flats on the sensor is a risk. The special sensor tools are designed to contact more of the wrench flats of the sensor but has an opening for the wire to feed through. == ==
7/8
The oxygen sensor on a Buick Rendezvous is located immediately before the converter on the driver's side. You will need either a special socket or a wrench to remove the sensor.
the oxygen sensor or 02 sensor is usually located on you headers it should take a 5/8 wrench it will have two wires coming off of it.
replace it..It should screw right in with a wrench.
bank #1 sensor #2 is the oxygen sensor that is past the catalytic convertor(some mechanics call it the downstream sensor)the sensor is located between the convertor and muffler you can use a 7/8 wrench or a oxygen sensor socket if you have one
If you are replacing the old sensors, you can cut off the wires at the sensor and slip a 7/8" box wrench over the sensor for removal. Use the open end 7/8" wrench to install the new one. Tighten the new sensor as you would a spark plug.
The oxygen sensor on a Honda Civic is replaced by disconnecting the wiring harness and removing the sensor using a socket wrench. Anti-seize paste is applied to the threads, a new sensor is torqued into place, and the wires reconnected.
Unplug it at the wiring connector, and then get a wrench that fits it and screew it out of the exhaust pipe.
