American values can vary, depending on a person's family structure, religious background, or even where they live. Even so, some values are regarded as being important to the majority of the American population. These include the rights of individuals to make decisions for themselves, the virtues of progress (economic, social, or technological), social mobility and egalitarianism, and practicality and efficiency in work.
American social, economic and political values are the driving force in US society. With that said, it can be fair to say that American values and society's values are interchangeable.
The laws in place are there because of the values of a country. This is why each country has different laws.
