Here's the deal..why would John Deere release FREE operator's manuals to everyone? They won't, never will and anything else is plagerism and infringment of copyright law. To order a manual for a cost call Deere & Company's Distribution Center at 1-800-522-7448.
Early 345's had a pair of wires reversed during manufacture. One had one wire and the other had two; they were either pink or purple with a white stripe. Consult a Deere dealer since they can access the service bulletin on this.
Check to see if the engine charging system is producing at least 12dc volts
The GX345 is a pretty stout machine and should last 30+ years, However, if you wish to replace it you will need to get a 520 series minimum, a 720 is a bit stouter than your 345. The 520 will cost around 7k with a deck and blower, 720 around 11k. Keep in mind the 300 series are much lighter duty today than your 345 is. The weak point on the new ones are the transmission and limited attachments.
