Jefferson Davis gave a speech in Jackson Mississippi on December 26, 1862. In the speech Davis was clear that the resources of the South might not be enough to win the war. He cited the North's advantage in manpower & resources as the reason. Nevertheless, he told his audience that he remained optimistic.
