In fact, skiing at Stowe is so popular that the town has been called The Ski Capital of the East. The nearby Stowe Mountain resort is renowned for its huge amount of runs - 116 in all - and difficult double black diamond runs. Made up of Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak, the resort boasts a massive vertical drop of 2160 feet. In fact, Mount Mansfield is the highest mountain in the United States.
