According to Ford a 50 / 50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water is required year
round because the antifreeze also provides corrosion protection
( do not drop below 40 % antifreeze or exceed 60 % antifreeze )
Also , the corrosion protection additives in the antifreeze do " wear out "
Most antifreeze has a chemical that freezes at a very lower temp than plain water.
The temp may not go up until the antifreeze leaks way down. Or the temp gauge may not be working right. The leak needs to be fixed, or the engine can overheat and cause permanent damage.
Antifreeze is a liquid added to the cooling system of an automobile to ensure that the water within it does not freeze solid.
The antifreeze is low in the reservoir.
Not if the temperature will fall below freezing.
You can use any standard antifreeze, there is no special type required.
A mix of 50% clean water and 50% straight antifreeze is good for most areas. If you live where the temp goes below -30 degrees F, a mix of 25% clean water and 75% straight antifreeze would be better.
yes just make sure antifreeze level is topped off and you will make it just watch temp gauge.
they do this to lower the freezing temp of the water so then it wouldd have to drop below 0 degrees.
just not so hot that you burn yourself. checking before you drive is O.K.
till the radiator and the block is full and the cooling system is at operating temp
it will freeze rite a O if it doesn't have some water in it it is made to react to water and go lower.
