Any where from 68-82F will work just fine for him The preferred temperature for Beta fish is around 80 degrees. Yes, they can survive at much lower temps but if you want a healthy pet please provide a warmer environment. And try to keep this temp as constant as possible.

Depending upon the species different fish need different temperatures. Some have to be kept below certain temperatures (Trout need below 60F) and others need to be kept above certain temperatures. (Discus need above 80F)
