I believe the word you are looking for is excommunicated. It isn't really being kicked out a church, but instead is a time of not being in community with God, not taking part in communion (the Eucharist) while still being allowed to attend mass or church functions. Many times it is only temporary and serves as a strong message to fix behavior
It means to ban someone from ever going to the church again.

Catholic AnswerThere is no such term (or action) in the Catholic Church. The worst punishment that the Church has ever had is excommunication, which means that someone may not receive the sacraments, except confession. In other words, until they reform, they may not receive Holy Communion; BUT they are still required to attend Mass each week. Even the worst heretics in history, from the Gnostics in the first and second centuries to Martin Luther and the Jansenist's in the 16th and 17th centuries only received Excommunication. Nobody is every "expelled" from the Church. Christ loves everyone and the Church is here to save sinners. Unless you are using the word "church" to refer to protestant sects, which is not technically correct, as they are not "churches" but ecclesial communities. Some of them have practiced expelling people from their communities, but you would have to ask the question in Protestantism or Christianity.Three that come immediately to mind are "excommunicate" (which the dictionary indicates is specific to the Roman Catholic church), "disfellowship" and "unchurch."
