Well a salamander is something that looks like a lizard but is a amphibian. They have smooth bodies and live mainly in Europe. There are 3 morphs (keep in mind their main colour is black) one with yellow splodges, another with yellow spots and finally one with smaller splodges (more like yellow stripes). They have a stubby body, limbs and tail, as a result they grow (as an adult) 7-11 inches/18-28cm.

it gets its English name from the Persian samandarmeaning fire within, as with the Persian beliefs, they thought it could walk through flames
