War is a nasty business that involves a lot of death and destruction; it is very expensive and disruptive of normal lives and normal economies, and no matter how much one may wish to kill only the enemy, there are always going to be innocent bystanders who get hurt as well, often in large numbers. War is, without doubt, a terrible way for nations or factions of whatever sort to resolve their disagreements. It the remedy of last resort.
