Historians believe that people from Asia, China, and Polynesia may have also landed in North America.
Because North America could mean: a) The northern subcontinent where the United States, Canada and Mexico are located. b) The country commonly known as "America" or "North America", but otherwise known as the United States (capital: Washington DC). Mexico is part of the northern subcontinent of North America, but it is not part of the United States, as it is an independent country on its own.
I suppose you could call them two unions. One was the United States of America (the North). And the other was the Confederate States of America (the South). The term 'Union' is always understood to mean the North.
Columbus NEVER landed in North America. He didn't know it existed. He landed in the Bahamas. In the late 1700's the Italian American's began the story that Columbus landed in America so they could get a special day and parade like the Irish American's for St. Patrick's day. Columbus was not Italian, but Spanish. This is how history is changed.
I'm almost 100% sure it was the viking but it could also be the Spanish that's the best I have hope it helps. :)
The Bering Strait separates Asia and North America. And guess what? If the world connects Asia and North America, all the continents will be united! You could drive to California from Africa and so on!
Yes and no. He did not land in what we today call the United States, but he did reach what is today part of the Caribbean-- the Bahamas, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, for example; these areas are often referred to as part of "the Americas" (north and south America). At the time he did not realize what he had found-- he thought he had landed in India.
There are 23 national flags in North America. This is the most reasonable number to give because there could be, in reality, millions of flags in North America (state, cities, counties, cooperations, etc.)This does not include the subdivisions (external territorial islands) of 4 European countries : Denmark, France, the UK, and the Netherlands.National Flags alphabetically:Antigua and BarbudaThe BahamasBarbadosBelizeCanadaCosta RicaCubaDominicaDominican RepublicEl SalvadorGrenadaGuatemalaHaitiHondurasJamaicaMexicoNicaraguaPanamaSaint Kitts and NevisSaint LuciaSaint Vincent and the GrenadinesTrinidad and TobagoUnited States of America
Two examples of historic and famous cities in North America could be New York (United States) and Mexico City (Mexico). Two examples of historic and famous cities in South America could be Lima (Peru) and Sao Paulo (Brazil).
A groups of people from England who landed to North America for religious. ( farmer, hunter, religion)
North America is not a country. Much as the US would like everyone to believe that they are the only residents of North America, Mexico, Canada, Guatemala and others are part of North America. The real problem is that the US does not have a name for their country, just a vague description- united states of America. Canada could easily be the united provinces of North America and Mexico could claim to also be the united states of America. However, both of those countries have proper names, so they don't claim to be the entire continent."North America" is not a country - it is a continent composed of 23 countries and territories, both sovereign or dependent.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_North_American_countries
He landed in the Bahamas. The exact island that Columbus landed on is a matter of debate, most agree that it could have been one of:San Salvador (called Guanahani by the native inhabitants)Samana CayPlana Cay
New York and Florida and California.
