Hamsters can chew on gnawing sticks that you will find at pet stores. They can also chew on wooden huts that you will also find in pet stores. NEVER GIVE YOUR HAMSTER A STICK THAT YOU FIND OUTSIDE. THAT CAN LEAD TO DEATH. There can be many parasites and bugs inside the stick. If you do feel that you think that the stick is okay, peel of the bark and soak in water then bake it at 350 degrees F.

∙ 10y agoHamsters can chew on sticks from the yard if they are from non toxic trees like an oak, if you know they have not been chemically treated. Put the sticks in the oven for a little while to make sure they do not have any mites on them. I always gave mine the cardboard rolls from the center of toilet paper and paper towels. The wood toys at the pet store are generally pretty inexpensive.
