Just wait. It will grow back! Although the new tail may look different.... Make sure that you feed the gecko lots of fatty foods, as the stored fat in the tail has fallen off. Isolate the gecko to prevent other geckos from feeding from the wound (if any others are with it). Isolation also helps prevent bullying. If you see scratches on one of your gecko's legs, it may be bullied. Never hold your gecko by the tail, as this will cause it to fall off. Geckos drop their tails so that the creature that has caught them will get confused and the gecko can make a quick escape. I hope this helps!

This is common and a natural defence. NEVER HOLD OR CATCH A DEGU BY IT'S TAIL.

If the bone / pink section of the tail is visible and bleeding badly dip it in some plain household flour. Flour is a natural coagulant (thickens the blood and slows the bleeding). Take the injured degu GENTLY from the normal cage and place it in a smaller, clean cage with less to excite the degu or catch onto it's tail. Keep it calm and the cage very clean. Beware of infection and if the bleeding doesn't slow, take it to the vet as soon as you can. If it looks ill, take it to the vet - infections in degus have to be treated as soon as possible.

DON'T WORRY if he starts to chew the bone off - he needs to do this to minimise damage. And yes, he probably will eat it, too. (YUCK!)

It looks bad, but if he seems OK in himself, chances are he can't feel it that much.

Hope it helps!

Why does gerbils tails die?

If you mean 'Why to Gerbils shed their tails?' then I can help you! Gerbils only shed their tails if they are very frightened or in pain. The commonest way that a gerbil loses their tail is when somebody picks them up by it. They will also she their tails if the tail gets trapped. Please be careful and take precautions so the gerbils are as safe as possible, because it hurts the gerbil when they shed their tail. The tail won't grow back, and the gerbil's balance may be affected.
