The commonest way that a gerbil loses their tail is when somebody picks them up by it. They will also she their tails if the tail gets trapped. Please be careful and take precautions so the gerbils are as safe as possible, because it hurts the gerbil when they shed their tail. The tail won't grow back, and the gerbil's balance may be affected.
