You need to drain it out until you achieve the correct oil level. You can lock the motor up and cause serious damage if you run the engine like that

Drain out the excess. Too much oil will damage the engine.
Mine doesn't smoke after adding oil, it runs great. Does yours? Maybe you put too much oil in it or the wrong thickner?
You will do serious damage to any 4 engine that you overfill. Drain out the excess oil immediately.
My lawn mower smokes when it has too much oil in it or when the oil is watery. Try changing the oil.
STOP! Read the instruction manual or telephone the manufacturer that sold you the mower and get the specs regarding the type and amount of oil. Too much oil can cause damage and oil leaks, don't guess, observe the marks on the dipstick after adding oil.

If it is a 2-stroke engine, the oil/gas mixture has too much oil. If it is a 4-stroke engine, the oil sump is overfull.
The owners manual will tell you exactly how much. There is a lot of other good info in there, too.
Remove oil from pan or go for an oil change. Too much oil can blow out the gaskets.
Check the oil/fuel mix and make sure you have it mixed to the correct ratio. Else, try raising the blade on the lawn mower. If you have the lawn mower blade too low, mowing tall grass, it can make too much work for the mower and will cause it to overheat.
