Warn everyone (especially children) that acknowledges your dog's presence that he/she bites and no matter how cute they look, they might bite so do not touch them. Some dogs arent as socialized with humans as other dogs, so warn people. If they get bitten, it is their fault because they were warned. I would suggest reading the book "How to Right a Dog Gone Wrong" by Pamela Dennison. It explains how to counter condition and desensitize your dog. I found it useful in dealing with aggressive dogs. If you do seek the service of a trainer be sure to use one that specializes in aggressive dogs. And be sure they use positive reinforcenent methods only. Answer == He should make sure it doesn't have an opportunity to bite anyone. Knowing that the dog bites means that you will be held totally liable if the dog bites someone else. If it cannot be kept isolated, serious consideration should be given to having it destroyed. Answer Dogs also bite out of fear, for example, if your dog is biting people that approach him when he is on a lead, he could be doing it out of fear, in which case socialization and further training will help, but please seek the advice of a proffesional, if he is lunging before somebody actually approaches him it is more likely agression.it's best to get on top of this before it has a chance to go too far. All behavior problems can be sorted out, it just need undertanding, time and hard work. Good luck.

Training for this must start when they are young, but if not, contrary to belief you can teach an old dog new tricks. Whether the biting is done in fun or as a sign of aggression, it must be stopped.
When a puppy is small we all tend to let them chew on our hands, even though we now and then wince in pain, we continue to let them do it. As they get older, if not stopped, the chewing becomes harder. Next thing you know you're yelling at the dog for biting so hard. Something earlier a bit funny....now not so. When my puppies begin to chew, I pull my hand away, grab an acceptable chew toy and allow them to transfer the chewing to that. Then praise them, "Good chew, good chew!" Sounds funny, but when they do anything that you've asked them to, and you immediately praise them with what they've done i.e. You call them to come, they come running, call out to them as they come, "Good come, good come!" When sitting, "Good sit, good sit." and so on. So when your dog bites you, do this: Your dog bites you, form your hand into a claw, put it in the dogs face and tap his head with it and say loudly "shhhhhhtt" Notice it's minus the "i". The dog may drop his ears , then say, "No bite" Do this over and over until your dog gets the hint. When ever your dog bites or do unfavorable behavior, use the claw and shhhht sound and your words. No bite, no chew, ...get the idea?

Do not hurt the dog just say it was bad and pet it. And if it keeps biting it must be hurting or starving. ---- As a part time dog trainer and dog owner i have had many similar experiences and i believe this is the best way to stop your puppy from biting: When my dog was a puppy she went through a phase of biting when you went to get something out her mouth and i did the following and it stopped her completely! If your puppy's teeth comes into contact with your skin, even if it does not hurt you slap your hand on the floor or shout 'OWW!' (do not punish or hurt your puppy!) and walk away from your puppy ignoring it until it has calmed down. This teaches the puppy that when it bites it hurts and will be ignored because of what it has done, keep doing this until the puppy realises that biting has no benefits. Hope you found this helpful.

If you don't want to put it down and continue giving it chances, then you need to make sure everyone around you knows it bites. That way you can at least avoid law suits while you try to train your dog.

Our dog tried to bite someone and we had to put her to sleep. You can't always be worried about your dog biting friends when it comes over, mailmen, and others.
