if there is another port you can plug the pen drive into, try that. That will elimitate the port as the problem. If you have another computer available, try the pen drive in another computer. If it works, it's not the drive.

The trackpad (or touchpad) responds to static electricity. Unless you wrap your pen with cotton and rub it on the floor vigorously, it will not make your mouse point move. I've been having a problem with these, though. I've noticed that my static electricity is low from when the mouse icon stops moving. I have to take a second to self-recharge, then it works again! It's weird & annoying.
