The best treatment is using the arm as you normally would. It will hurt more at first, but the more you use it the better it will feel. I make myself use my arm as soon as possible after the shot and don't "favor" it at all. I ask for the injection to be put in the arm I use most often so that I have no choice but to use it and make it better even if I don't want to at first.

Otherwise, you can put a warm water compress on the site of the shot by running very warm water (not hot) on a towel or thick wash cloth and lay it on the spot for 20 minutes several times a day, re-warming as it cools off during that time period. Often NSAIDS (medicines like fever reducers: Tylenol, ibuprofen, etc....but don't use aspirin for children or teenagers) will ease the ache, too, if they are medicines you can take.

Are vaccinations bad for you?

In theory the shot could prevent you from catching the flu. However, I know people who have had bad reactions to the shot and developed flu symptoms because of it- essentially negating the benefit of the shot.

Is it a good or service when you go get your annual examination and flu shot?

This is a service, because you cannot touch or hold an annual examination, or the administration of a flu shot. Put another way, you are paying for the expert evaluation of a physician rather than for something you can take home and work with yourself.

What will happen if you dont get vaccinated?

If you don't get a flu vaccination, either a shot or nasal mist, then you are putting yourself at an unnecessary health risk. It is proven that the risk of having a problem with the vaccine is so extremely low compared to the risk of catching and getting really sick from the flu (36,000 people a year in the US die from the seasonal flu), that it is ill-advised to avoid vaccination. The numbers speak for themselves. If you wouldn't bet your life in a poker game, you shouldn't gamble with it with serious diseases, either. You not only put yourself in unnecessary danger, you also put loved ones and others to whom you can spread it at the same or higher risk. It is just common sense.

What if you get the flu right after getting a tattoo?

The symptoms from getting a tattoo after a flu shot should be no different than they would have been anyway. You'll have the same risks of infection from a tattoo as you would have without having had a flu shot beforehand. Obviously, you shouldn't put a tattoo in the area where the shot was given until all signs of a reaction to the shot and sore arm have had an opportunity to come and go. So wait at least a couple of weeks or after there is no swelling, redness, or pain/soreness (whichever is later) to get one put right there. Having it put someplace else will have no different symptoms than usual just because you have had a flu shot. If you would get the tattoo before getting the flu shot, and if your tattoo were infected, your health care professional may suggest waiting until your body isn't fighting off something else before you use any vaccines.
