Either a 2-speed Powerglide or 3-speed TH400. A (very) small handful had a 4-speed manual.
YES
It does not have one.
sure
What is the engine in the Caprice? In the Suburban? If they are a 305/350 then they can be interchanged. I have a 1985 Caprice Classic with a 305 and the tranny came out of a 1987 Suburban. It depends on the engine.
try your vehicle speed sensor, connected to your tranny look underneeth kind of on the side of the tranny
1993 Caprices didn't have 3-speed trannys
yes, if your caprice has a v-8 the motor will bolt directly to your tranny, just put a new fuel line on and run the carburator, junk the tbi
5.0L 305 cid V8/TH700 R4 tranny
ANYTHING will fit into a 1983 Caprice Classic. Are you asking if it will bolt up to the tranny?
I think you will need to use the caprice tranny as the bolt holes are different on the olds tranny. Here is how it works if the motor is a Chevy you must use a tranny with the Chevy bolt patern. There is some trannys with both bolt pattern. (never seen one). If it is an olds motor you must use a BPO tranny. BPO is a Buick, Pontiac or Oldsmobile. I am sure that they do make adapter though (never seen one)
just take down the old one and bolt up the new one and you will have to run a vacum line to the tranny just did it to my 87 chevy caprice but i had to get my drive shaft shortened
