That depends on what type of transmission you have, it could use anything from SAE 75w-90w to ATF+4 (formerly ATF+3); AFT+4 is common usage and gear oil is for most heavy duty applications.
If you remove the fill plug and then use a pipe cleaner (or other similar object) to carefully insert into the transmission you should be able to determine the fluid type.
If it is "red" then it is ATF+4 (suggest using any type of synth-lube for standard transmissions).
If it is "dark brown" or "black" then it is 90w "gear box" fluid; warning do not use hypoid 140w fluid or it will not shift when cold.
