It is important to use the correct amount of fluid in a car. The 1988 Acura Legend takes about 3.2 quarts of transmission fluid.
Use only OEM Acura/Honda ATF DW-1 automatic transmission fluid. Do not use any other fluid that claims to be compatible.
Use only Honda P/S fluid.
You must use HONDA Automatic Transmission Fluid only. Other type of ATF for temporary use.
You require 3-4 when doing a fluid change, be sure to only use Honda/Acura brand
It is critical that you use only Honda ATF. Do not use any other fluid, no matter what anyone tells you. Your Acura will not shift properly with any other fluid and you it may be damaged. Purchase the fluid at your Honda/Acura dealer.

Use nothing but OEM Acura or Honda ATF DW-1 automatic transmission fluid. Do not use any other fluid that claims to be a replacement or you will suffer rough shifts.
There is a plug on the side of the transmission and you will need a funal with a long hose. Do not put transmission fluid in the trans. I believe that they use 30 weight oil for these cars. Be sure to check with your local auto parts store.
Check your transmission fluid level. If it is low add just enough Acura A/T fluid ATF DW-1 to reach the full mark. Warning: Do not overfill and use only genuine Acura ATF DW1 fluid and nothing else. Check it according to the owners manual instructions. If it is full then you need to seek professional help and have the fluid filter changed. Insist they use only Acura Fluid and no substitute which they may try to use or your transmission will not sift properly.
Use whatever is stated in the owners manual. This is critical. If you have no owners manual, coantact an Acura dealer for the answer. Put the wrong fluid in and you will ruin a tranny. Honda products use a special fluid.
