That's a common misconception. Slaves were actually sold to Dutch Traders. When neighboring tribes would fight they would usually kill their neighbors. Often they would take a few of the defeated neighbors back to their villages as slaves. When Dutch Traders arrived, and wanted to find something of value from Africa, the Africans offered some of their slaves. Dutch Traders liked the arrangement resulting in an industry in Africa and Europe. It was easy for the Africans to sell slaves since slavery had been so common. Egyptians had been using slaves for a long time, and Egypt is in the north part of the African Continent, so who would THEY take. Egyptian slaves were, of course, anyone they could capture and defeat. Neighboring Africans were convenient and learned about slavery from their neighbors to the north. Slavery was also common in other parts of the world, India, Asia, South America... which in no way justifies that practice. So when you ask which tribes were afflicted, the answer can only be, just about all of them that were near the coast or thos that were within easy reach of Egypt. Slavery was part of a bad era for the United States and the people who had to endure it. There were a total of twelve African tribes afflicted by the slavers. They were from the tribes of: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph and Benjamin. These twelve tribes were descended from Abraham, through his son Isaac and his son Jacob (later renamed Israel). Israel's twelve sons became twelve tribes. They were enslaved because they disobeyed God's commands and laws. The slavers took the Israelites to the Caribbean islands and South America to chop sugarcane and to North America to pick cotton. Although today the Israelites are still living in exile in foreign lands, the future will see them return to Africa and to their former glory as God's chosen people. (refer to the biblical book of Deuteronomy 28:1-68).
When wars were fought in Africa the victors would sell their prisoners to the slavers who came from Europe and North America.. this was the way slaves came to Virginia and other parts of the world.
Some examples of nomadic tribes still present in the world today are the Maasai in East Africa, the Bedouin in the Middle East, and the Mongols in Central Asia. These tribes continue their traditional lifestyle of migrating with their herds or following seasonal patterns.
Well, the Africans were at war with one another. They began to enslave themselves. Then the Portugese began the importation around the world . . .in the 1500's
We dot have tribes, we are a first world country.......
The Scramble for Africa was important for two reasons, the first being that the European powers fighting over African territory created tension in Europe, which eventually built up into World War I. The other reason it is important is because Europeans went into Africa and divided land arbitrarily, giving no thought to the tribes of people who lived there. This meant that many families were split up and enemy tribes grouped together, leading to conflict in Africa that continues to this day.
From what part of the world? The African tribes? The AmerIndian tribes? The Hebrew tribes? Which? We need some directions here.
They weren't necessarily best per se, but they were the easiest/most convenient to obtain (in some cases they were sold by their Chiefs to the White Slavers) and no one in the "Civilized" world told the slavers that they shouldn't do it. Very strong for back breaking work. Their strength was their down fall when it came to the cruelties and abuses of slavery.
100% of Africa is in the world.
There are hundreds of tribes all over the world that do not speak English.
Probably not there are extremely isolated tribes but they have all been contacted because most of the African wilderness has been explored. Most of Africa is third world and uses large amount of its resources to try and modernize. There are many African tribes that live their traditional way of life but many are in danger because of "progress" and all are contacted.
The World cup is being held in Johannesburg in South Africa.
