All vehicles after 1994 used R-134a as the refrigerant. Go to wal-mart/autozone or where ever you find your car stuff and buy a recharging kit and follow the directions in the kit, usually it will tell you 3-4 cans, depending on size. I recommend that you throw a can of leak fix in before your start, if you ever have to refill it there maybe some kind of leak. I also recommend to use an Easy to use kit such as the kit from InterDynamics, This kit contains a dispenser that has a built in pressure gauge and a triggering system that will allow you to control how much you are adding.
First: Start the engine and Air Conditioner and let it idle for at least 5 minutes.
Second: Attach 1 can of LeakStop to the t-tap or the refill nozzle making sure it is set to off prior to mounting.
Third: Along the fire wall will be a small connector with a black cap, unscrew the cap and there is your refilling point. It is referred to as the Low Pressure Service Port.
Fourth: Connect the refill nozzle to the Low pressure service port.
Fifth: Dispense the contents while gently shaking the can up and down, (WARNING THE CAN WILL BECOME COLD DURING DISPENSING, MAKE SURE YOU WEAR GLOVES TO PREVENT FROSTBITE.) if your pressure in the system was too low to begin with you should hear the A/C Clutch begin to cycle, and the idle speed change slightly after the addition of the can, otherwise, STOP. If the A/C Clutch is not cycling take it to a licensed professional for service.
Sixth: Continue to dispense the cans, make sure you use a pressure gauge to verify that you do not charge more than 35PSi to the system, more than this will damage the compressor and can possibly cause an explosion!
IF YOU EVER OVERCHARGE THE SYSTEM AT ANYTIME, STOP! IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF THE AIR CONDITIONER AND TAKE IT TO BE SERVICED IMMEDIATELY.
NEVER VENT THE CANS INTO THE ATMOSPHERE, IT IS ILLEGAL BY FEDERAL LAW.
ATTENTION:
1,1,1,2-TETRAFLUOROETHANE IS AN ASPHYXIANT, IT CAN QUICKLY SATURATE THE AIR AROUND YOU AND KILL YOU! IF THE CAN OR SYSTEM SPRINGS A LEAK, STOP AND EVACUATE THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY. IF ANYONE IS AFFECTED TAKE THEM TO IMMIDIATE FRESH AIR AND MONITOR THEM FOR THE REMAINDER OF TIME. IF NEEDED DIAL 911.
