Ethyl alcohol is the only kind of alcohol that is not poisonous to humans.

Everything is toxic in the appropriate dose and comparatively small doses of ethyl alcohol are toxic (and fatal) to humans and all other animals. Ethyl alcohol is also classified by the World Health Organisation as a 'known human carcinogen' - but only in alcoholic drinks! I suspect this is more to do with social engineering than medical science. Drinkers need to be denormalised in the same way as smokers have been - 'addicts', 'think of the children', 'passive drinking' and all that BS.
