My 1982 C10 Custom Deluxe holds 3 and a half quarts of transmission fluid.
on the transmission. and it requires gear oil
The 1985 with an automatic transmission has a dip stick close to the fire wall. using a funnel, fluid is added through the dip stick tube. In a manual transmission there is a plug on the drivers side of the transmission. The plug is removed and fluid is added through the bolt hole.
Assuming it is automatic, read the dipstick, probably Dextron III.
6.5 quarts for a filter change.
Transmission fluid
This may not be much help but I have a 1984 UK Volvo 240 dl which I changed the fluid on some years ago. As I recall it was simply a case of undoing a drain plug on the transmission casing and refilling after undoing another nut physically higher up the casing.
The 1985 Econoline Van has an automatic transmission. The transmission can be rebuilt by any licensed transmission shop or purchased new.
The FSM calls for a 'Dexron' type transmission fluid.
