remove the buttplate screws, and the buttplate. In the large round hole in the stock is the stock bolt. That is unscrewed to remove the stock from the rifle.
I have an early 70's Remington M540X .22 Rifle. I've looked around at gun shows and found similar rifles selling for around $400-500. You must consider the condition of the entire rifle; stock, receiver, barrel and finish. It's a great rifle and shoots straighter than I am able to. F.R. Arlington, VA
