Yes
Most chain saws have a reservoir that you fill with the bar/chain oil before you start. Check the level every 20-30 minutes while you are working, if you are using the saw constantly. The reservoir must have oil in it at all times while the saw is being used.
You cannot use any type of "engine oil" on a chainsaw bar. Even though the oil itself is quite adequate, manufacturers put a tackifier into the oil so it doesn't fly off the chain when in motion. The temperature outside is irrelevant, in this case.
You do not need oil in order to use electric chain saws. You only need to use lubrication to keep the bar and chain working correctly.
I use 30-1 in mine.
DG makes a good chain lube . If you want to save money get some chain saw bar and chain oil .it has a cling agent in it which makes it stick to the chain . Dump some in a can and use a old paint brush and paint it on the chain .
No, you do not need a special permit to use a chain saw.
I've had one, but have friends with many, and all seem to use 40-1 for max power.
use an oil filter remover, i find the strap type that uses a ratchet works best, the chain type distroys the filter and you get oil everywhere
32ounces - Primary chain case oil. You don't need anything special. Use Valvoline ATF type F or D... But dextron3 is a No-No. It could cause the chain to slip.
No, you not need a licence.
Harley has what they call primary chaincase lube, but because you are only oiling the chain, even though the clutch is also inside the primary, you should use only enough oil to catch on the ring gear allowing it to be flung up onto the chain, and it really can be any oil that you think lubricates your chain. In the absence of HD lube, I use the same 20-50 wt oil that goes in my oil tank
