A 1993 Toyota 4Runner uses R12 refrigerant. The 1993 Toyota 4Runner requires 30 ounces of R12 for all engine types.
Your 1993 Toyota AC: is fuel by Freon. Freon and a recharge kit can be obtained from most auto-parts stores.
R-12
2.0 pounds of R134a freon............

r-134
You would use R-12.
It was built with R12, can be coverted to R134a
im sure any 93 and newer Mercedes is on R-134a , some models may have used that refridgerant even earlier
R-134, cars built '93 and prior used R12. However bear in mind that '93 vehicles were a mixed bag of both, some used R12, others R134, and your car could be a '93. One more thing, AC stuff should really be left to the profesionals, not the home mechanic.
Crankshaft Pulley !
It came from the factory with R12 (Freon). As R12 is so very expensive, I would convert this car to R134a. You can buy a conversion kit at most auto parts stores. If you have leak, make sure to have the leak repaired.
The 1995 4Runner was the last model to be released from that series. The engine from 1990 until 1995 can all be swapped relatively easily.
