80w90 hypoid oil, any good brand will do. I like Castrol, but that's just me.
Yup. It'll go right in, no modifications required.
1998 vw beetle what type of oil
Use 20W50 oil (Castrol makes it) in a type 1 VW.
It's the backup light switch.
I recently overhauled my '68 Beetle and found no dip stick on the trans axle. Oil has to be checked by lifting the car on a service station lift, opening the oil filler plug and checking the oil level the way we used to on earlier cars. --- Jas

unfortunately no...sorry. the 75 is an (irs) independent rear suspension. which means it is a double jointed axle meaning it has 2 cv boots on each side, opposed to a single jointed on a 57 which is reffered to a swing axle...
The oil capacity for a 2.0 liter VW Beetle is approximately 4.2 quarts. The recommended oil type is 10 W 30.
