Depending on the climate of your location, your 87 Suburu will take about 4.2 quarts of 5w/30 weight oil. This oil is a good year round oil, if you are located in a hot climate u may be able to run 10w30 weight, but Subaru's call for 5w30 as a rule. You can use either a conventional, synthetic blend, or full synthetic oil.
