Why a needle does not float whereas a heavy ship floats-?

A needle doesn't float because there is very little air in a needle. Metal is much more dense than wood, which is what most boats are made of. When a boat is made of metal, there are air stores inside of the boat that keep it afloat.

What do you do after you have made 1000 cranes?

You make a giant paper boat (about 1 meter long), and a huge amount of origami fireworks. Then you load the origami fireworks onto the paper boat and set off the fireworks, lighting the boat on fire, burning all the paper cranes. Due to natural selection, those paper cranes which don't burn will be the ones to reproduce. Sooner or later the world will be populated with nothing but super-selected paper cranes.

What flies when its on and floats when its off?

A feather. A puddle jumper (float plane)??? A UFO. (although, they technically hover when they're off)??? There is a particular type of boat one of which is called the flying posidon, which has wings under the water which makes the boat effectively 'fly' accross the water, when the boat is not in motion it floats! A duck Yes, but if she weighs the same as a duck, then she will float and is therefore made of wood and by extention will burn and so must be a witch. BURN HER!! :) A pilot who has a swimming pool in his back yard

Will paper float or sink in water?

Dry paper is less dense than water and will float. But paper is absorbent: when in contact with water, it will start to absorb water into its fibers. This increases the density, so eventually it becomes saturated and sinks. Paper boats can be made, where only a small portion of the sheet is touching the water, slowing the absorption rate and allowing it to float much longer.
