Leaving aside the two atomic bombs, those commonly dropped were incendiary bombs (often Phosphorus but also some napalm) and high explosives. Bombs with delayed-action fuses were common, especially with the German aerial mines which were often booby-trapped to deter and hopefully prevent bombs their de-fusing. The British used 'block-buster' bombs, which were 4,000 lb thin-casing cylinders of high-explosive used for blast effect. They also used 'Tallboy' and 'Grand Slam' bombs, which were designed by Barnes Wallis and were designed to penetrate concrete at supersonic speeds. The smaller "Tallboy" was used to destroy the U-boat pens at Brest in France by punching through the previously-bomb-proof massive concrete roof, and also to sink the 'Tirpitz' for good. The 'Grand Slam' was also known as the 'earthquake bomb' , and was designed to penetrate deep into the earth before exploding. Among other things, it was used to destroy the surviving viaducts in Italy which could not be destroyed in conventional bombing raids by dropping one or two "Grand Slam"s next to the viaduct instead. These penetrated 60 feet into the earth before exploding and destroyed the
foundations of the viaduct. At 22,000 lbs, or 10 tons, they are still the largest and heaviest conventional bomb ever made: the Americans like to think they are the greatest, but their much-vaunted MOAB ("Massive Ordnance Air Blast" colloquially known as the "Mother Of All Bombs"), first tested in 2003, at 21,500 lbs is still smaller than the "Grand Slam" made over 60 years ago.
B-29 custom planes
incendiary bombs.
The hydrogen bomb was not invented until the 1950's. The planes that dropped the first fission-type atomic bombs in World War II are the Enola Gay and Bockscar.
The Hiroshima bomb was called "Little Boy" and the Nagasaki weapon was called "Fat Man". The plane that dropped the Hiroshima bomb was called "Enola Gay" which was named after the generals mother.
Easy. Basically there were two types of nuclear bombs (Atomic bombs). One is fusion and the other is fission. Fusion bombs are Hydrogen bombs that were only invented and tested on 1950s. When America drop the bombs on Japan , it was fission type. Both Uranium and Plutonium in Hiroshima and Nagasaki respectively.
Bombs were delivered by a B-29 bomber named EnolaGay on August 6th, 1945.
incendiary bombs.
High explosive and incendiary.

Both the Allies side, (Britain, USA etc.), and they Axis side, (Germany, Italy etc.), dropped bombs in World War Two, although the Blitz was really the Luftwaffe, (German Air Force), dropping bombs on London, Coventry and other major areas.
During World War II, the Luftwaffe, the German Air Force, dropped various types of bombs on their targets. These included high-explosive bombs, incendiary bombs, fragmentation bombs, and bunker buster bombs. Each type of bomb served a different purpose, whether it was to cause damage and destruction, start fires, or penetrate fortified structures.

They were called bombers and examples are the American B-17, B-24, B-29, the British Lancaster and Halifax, the German He-111
The Hiroshima bomb was called "Little Boy" and the Nagasaki weapon was called "Fat Man". The plane that dropped the Hiroshima bomb was called "Enola Gay" which was named after the generals mother.
The WW2 B-29 Superfortress (the same type that dropped the atomic bombs) were used during the Korean War.

In WWII the United States used only two Atomic Bombs agains Japan. The first bomb was a gun-type fission bomb known as "Little Boy". "Little Boy" was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The second bomb was an implosion-type fission bomb known as "Fat Man". "Fat Man" was dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki.
they were atomic bombs.
