Assuming you mean Al2(CO3)3 + 6HNO3 --> 2Al(NO3)3 + 3H2O + 3CO2 it is basically a double replacement reaction, and then a decomposition reaction. The aluminum and hydrogen replace each other (double replacement) then the carbonic acid (H2CO3) immediately decomposes into water and carbon dioxide. You could also argue this is an acid/base reaction, since it's aluminum carbonate (a base) and nitric acid are producing water and the soluble salt aluminum nitrate.
