It would depend on what you are doing with the car, and what look your going for. A lot of guys would put some sort of IRS under there, chromed of course, for looks, and some function, I guess. Others would go more for a "period" look. Over the years guys have varied from type, to type, in search of strength, and the need for a wide selection of gear ratio's. They ran the Pontiac rear end for a while, I remember them using the Old's rear end for a while, and then Ford sewed up the market with strength, wide assortment of gear ratios, and the quick change charactoristics needed, in the 9 inch, which is to date the most popular rear end in most all forms of racing.
