Main sequence stars
Information that you can find about the star by looking at its spectra is its luminosity, surface temperature, its type(common/rare), color, how/if a star is moving, the density, the size, and future of the star. 2. And looking for spectral lines informs as to what elements are present.
Alcor is a hot, white A5V main sequence star having a luminosity about 13 times that of the sun. The spectral type implies that Alcor has an effective temperature of 8500 K, a diameter 1.7 times that of the sun, and a mass of about 2.2 solar masses. Alcor is a variable star of Delta Scuti type; see Caph.

Spectroscopy shows what elements are present in the star, it's chemical composition. The different elements give off different energy signatures through radiation, which relate to the wavelength and therefore colour.

Main sequence stars
Lambda Arietis is a double star in the northern constellation of Aries. It is comprised of a yellow-white primary star ( spectral type F, luminosity class V) and a yellow secondary star (spectral type G, luminosity class V). To the naked eye these appears yellow-white.
A star with luminosity class VI under the Yerkes Spectral Classification System. They have luminosity 1.5 to 2 magnitudes lower than main-sequence stars of the same spectral type.

The sun is a G-type main-sequence star (G V). It may be referred to as a yellow dwarf, or G dwarf star. Alternately it may be called a main-sequence star of spectral type G and luminosity class V.
