According to the computer at AutoZone, the 6 cylinder automatic transmission takes Dex VI fluid, but I read online that it takes DEX III. I don't know which is correct or if it even matters, but I would highly recommend using synthetic Transmission Fluid.
Research the process carefully!!! If the transmission fluid is too old, you could cause serious damage by replacing the transmission fluid. Also, you need to take the vehicle in to the professionals for an actual full fluid change.
It may be best simply to drain about 3 quarts by yourself and then add 3 new quarts. Perhaps look into Lucas Oil's Tranny Fix or Tranny Conditioner.

Dex2, Dex3, or Dex/Merc should be used.
