A 1986 BMW 325e uses standard Pentosin ATF 1 Transmission Fluid. It can be purchased at local BMW dealerships and some repair shops.

Ey dude I use a 10W-30. My 325e has 377xxx so i use like castrol high mileage. Some people i kno use synthetic but no point for myself

The brand and weight of oil you use has no effect whatsoever on passing a smog test. Use the exact weight of oil that is recommended by BMW.
