To check the transmission fluid on a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder you first need to pull the dipstick out from the tube next to the?ætransmission. Wipe the stick with a lint-free piece of cloth and reinsert the dipstick. Pull out again and read the level where the transmission fluid reaches.

need to check transmission fluid level/ or transaxle fluid level
Fill it through the dipstick tube. May need a long funnel.
