My Haynes manual lists Mercon or Dextron II ATF (automatic Transmission Fluid). I have a note that the capacity is around 3.3 pints. I have a 1991 Wrangler & it has the NP231 Xfer case & I bet your 95 has the same one.
The transfer case takes atf, use dextron.
My son's 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 lists 3 pints of Dextron III oil.
Through the plug on the middle rear of the case.
