In New York 1664 some jobs were farming on valley's or the coast, mining (dug out of the ground) iron and minerals, trading and shipping, sailors, craftmen, merchants, lumbermen, and trappers. Farmers grew corn, wheat, and vegetables. Iron was plentiful if you found or mined it. Trading and shipping was popular on the coast. Trading was popular because Dutch often traded fur and Dutch came to the colony to set up fur-trading posts. I hope I answered your question. Thanks for reading!
