white dwarfs
The Hertzsprung--Russell diagram (or H-R diagram) is a scatter graph of stars showing the relationship between the stars' absolute magnitudes or luminosity versus their spectral types or classifications and effective temperatures. See related link for a pictorial
helium stars
Stars shine because they are so extremely hot. Which is why fire gives off light. It is a process of turning one chemical make up into another chemical make up. In most stars hydrogen is being converted into a helium. The energy from this gives the star heat. This warms the outside of the surface of the star and the surface gives off heat and light. So you can say that stars are not on fire, even though they look that way, so they are not burning.
The four types of stars are; Main Sequence, White Swarfs, Red Giants and Super Giants. 90% of stars are in the Main Sequence.
Giant Stars are a type of star on the Hertzsprung Russel Diagram called AGB or Asymptotic Giant branch stars. They are stars between about 1 or less to 8 times the mass of the sun that are nearing the end of their life. They can expand up to hundreds of times their original size. Depending on their luminosity, they are marked by a roman numeral 2 or 3 (II or III) in their spectral types. They range in color from red to blue. Our sun will be a red giant when it grows up in 5 billion years.

what are the different types of surface mining
Population 1 stars are luminous. They include the Sun and are hot and young stars. These types are usually found in spiral galaxies. Population 2 stars are found in nucleuses of galaxies and globular galaxies. These stars are older and usually cooler than the population 1 ones.
