Giraffes used to have antlers, just like deer, moose, elk, etc. Giraffes fight each other using their heads and long necks. Their antlers likely broke off (repeatedly) during battles. Eventually, nature just left the “OSSICONES,†which are vestigal structures in the giraffe's skull. Nature is like that---constantly evolving but sometimes leaving remnants behind of what structures used to look like in the past. See the Facts In All Caps website.
