By sea along the coast, or the Ho Chi Minh trail which went thru Laos and Cambodia. Nothing went thru the DMZ (17th Parallel); without getting completely destroyed by airpower or artillery. The "Z" was no-man's land.
The Ho Chi Minh Trail is a trail that indirectly goes from North Vietnam to South Vietnam. The North Vietnamese Army would take supplies down the Ho Chi Minh Trail (through Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia) to South Vietnam, turning over the supplies to the VC terrorists.
The VC terrorists would then commit acts of terrorism within South Vietnam to weaken U.S/allied forces.

There is NO North Vietnam & South Vietnam today (and there hasn't been a north & south for over 30 years; when the north conquered the south, ending the war in 1975). Today's Communist Vietnam is President Triet.
