I don't know of any rental vehicles that can handle more than 8 people unless you step up to renting a passenger van, such as the Chevy Express, which seats from 10-15 people depending on the seat arrangement and which model it is. There are car rental agencies that rent such vans. Enterprise is one, and there are probably others.
The VW T5 Transporter can seat between 6 to 9 people depending on what seating configuration there is. The T5 is available with Kombi, Shuttle, Caravelle, and Multivan.

A Chateau package is something that was available on some Ford vehicles. This was the top trim package available and consisted of houndstooth fabric, air conditioning, AM-FM stereo, and ability to seat 9 passengers.
Although they are rare, several early model year Durangos were ordered without the third row seat for use as fleet vehicles. Third row seats were an option on early models just as a bench style front seat so you could accomodate up to 9 passengers (of which I´ve seen none yet) The STX trim level does not have a 3rd seat..
