Vitamins A and D are not considered true vitamins.

Dr. T. Colin Campbell doesn't believe that vitamin A meets the definition of a vitamin, because it isn't essential: your body can make all the vitamin A it needs from about 50 carotenoids in vegetables and fruits.

Vitamin D is actually a hormone that your body makes from the action of sunlight on your skin.
