Be more specific: "...lives have been lost in American wars..." does this mean counting the enemy too? Or just the US forces? For example: Approximately 264 US Cavalrymen were killed at the "Battle of the Little Big Horn" in 1876. But this figure does NOT count the Indian casualties.

(It would be like asking "Did the US win the war?". The US fought in many distinct wars, so the question is only answer that US won some wars - American Revolution and lost some wars - Vietnam.)
